Sexual violence is not about sex. It is about power and control. In 2018, there were 579 sexual assaults reported to police in New Brunswick (Moreau, 2019)5 and yet less than 1 in 20 incidents (5%) of sexual assault are reported to police in Canada (Perreault, 2015). Sexual violence is a gendered issue as women are more likely to report these experiences than men. (Government of New Brunswick)
